The road trip continued with a stop at Bass Pro Shop, The Landing, Branson Missouri.
You definitely know you are at Bass Pro, when you see an old pickup truck wearing a wreath with shotgun shell lights.
“An official Red Ryder range model carbine action air rifle with this thing in the stock which tells time.”
“Oh No! You’ll shoot your eye out!”
(from A Christmas Story, 1983)
I was in elementary school with a boy who had a BB embedded under the skin above one of his eyes. Ralphie’s mother, teacher, and Santa had a point when they told him he would shoot his eye out.
J bought a BB gun, like the one seen in the movie, A Christmas Story.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus…and dishes at Bass Pro Shop.
Old books, waders, creels and decoys…
Trapper baskets and old tins…
Several ducks and a loon…
…an aquarium.
Big Cedar Lodge (a Bass Pro resort) is just south of Branson, at Ridgedale Missouri.
A large Christmas tree, in the lobby of the lodge.
Big Cedar is the usual destination for our Fall getaway. This year, we chose Hilton Promenade, on The Landing.
We drove down to Big Cedar, one day, during our stay in Branson.
Below are photos taken in the gift shop Collections and in the lobby.
I’ll post the final installment of our Road Trip diary, soon.
Until then, I’m adding a hint of what is happening at our house, this week. Look for a Christmas decorating post Sunday 11/29.
Be sure to stop by Mary’s for Mosaic Monday.
I use Picasa 3 and Photoscape to create mosaics.

You do see and share the most amazing sights ... thank you for the beauty.
What a great place. Love that old blue pickup with the wreath on the nose with shotgun shells and lights around the window. Nice to know there were some girly things inside that shop. Pat, I just love going on your trips with you. Y'all really stay in some lovely places. I'll be looking forward to seeing your Christmas things.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh Pat, I love that wreath with the shotgun shell lights! We have a Bass Pro here in Ontario, Canada, about an hour by highway. Our family loves to go there. No hunters with my 3 guys, but extended family who are hunters and we all love the outdoors.
We decorate our guest suite in the basement, including the trees, with a lodge/outdoors theme. I love the antique accents Bass Pro uses in their displays and would love to come across some at yard sales. It would really add to the theme in our basement.
Thanks for sharing your great photos and experience.
Those are some great photos! And Mercy Me, I do love Bass Pro Shops!!!
Hi, Pat -
I really enjoyed going along on your trip. I can't wait till my sweetheart gets home from elk hunting to show him the photos of the Bass Pro Shop. If he ever gets his dream log cabin in the woods near hunting and fishing spots the dishes and silverware would be perfect! Thanks for sharing your travels - it's always fun to see where you've been and dream of seeing it myself some day.

Thanks for taking me along, Pat. I wondered if you had gone back to Big Cedar Lodge on your getaway. I believe my husband would like it there.
I know you are busy creating a magical Christmas showplace. I can hardly wait to see.
Well Pat, you guys sure get around! I've never been to a Bass Pro Shop. But the couple who clean my aquarium once a month take care of the one in Shreveport, 90 miles away. I can't wait to see your place for Christmas!

I want a Red Rider BB Gun :( lol and the pickup truck is great! Oh, and the waterfall...gorgeous. Looks like y'all had a great time!
Love this, Pat, and isn't J precious with that BB gun??? He looks like a kid with a toy! LOL! Love it!
And I love the way the BPS was decorated. I want that flatware, and I'm amazed at the china! NEAT!
Thanks for sharing this. So many cute ideas from the large light bulbs on the truck to the wreath with the shotgun shells. My cousins would LOVE that! :-)
XO,
Sheila
I love the serving pieces that say, "Never polish me". That is a task ahead of me this next week. I am using silver in one of my bedrooms for the tour. Hopefully my polishing will last for a few weeks.
J looks quite proud of his new purchase. Men are just little boys with bigger toys. HD can't wait to get one for our grandson. He is only 4 so it will be a few years.
Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures and I can't wait to see your home decorated for Christmas. Maybe it will give me a few last minute ideas. My ideas file is overflowing right now, but I just keep coming up with new things to do.

Loved the cyber trip, we have a Bass Pro here too, and they really do nice decorations, although I have never tried to take photos inside, I just figured they would not allow it, I am glad your store did.
fun, fun, fun. My Bobby G. loves bass pro shops and I have to admit I like going through them too. Lots of stuff actually for the ladies to look at. Happy Thanksgiving Pat. xo
Oh Lorie, I had so much fun looking at these pictures! The Bass Pro Shop down in South Florida doesn't hold a candle to this one; dishes?! My, my. I loved seeing that giant decorated tree, and the nativity set makes me want one just like it!
Gorgeous! Wish I could see it for myself.

Hi Pat, great post! It makes me want to run up to Branson! I haven't been to the 'Collections' giftshop before, but DH is an avid fisherman so BPS is a common stop (In Springfield). He usually drops me off at the scrapbooking store across the street! :)
Michelle

A View of My Life
Hi: If you are ever visiting up our way there is a Pro Bass Shop in Vaughan, Ontario just above Toronto. I have been in sometime back just to see what all the fuss was about. Valerie
I just visited this same place on another blogger from Oklahoma.
I really need to visit Branson. My SIL in OK likes to go there.
