The dining room metamorphosis, for Christmas, began with an empty corner, undecorated tree and containers of ornaments, silk flowers and ribbon.
The tree, in an urn, was purchased at Michael’s, about two years ago.

I said I wasn’t going to climb the ladder, this year. We weren’t even into the first day of decorating, when up the ladder I went!
I’ve told the story, before, about a friend telling me, several years ago, when I reached 60, I wouldn’t be decorating much for Christmas. Here I am still decorating. Not only that, I change things up, using what we have, just about every year. I have to admit, I am moving a tad bit slower, this year.
Note to self: Don’t plan the getaway so close to Thanksgiving, next year. You know how it is. You should always plan a little time to rest up from a vacation!
The chandelier posed a problem. It wasn’t weighted quite right. After the greenery and ornaments were attached, it was crooked. J fixed it up with fishing line weights.
Except for the chandelier dilemma, everything went smoothly. Now it is on to the hearth room, for more Christmas morphing.

It all just takes my breath away.
It really looks like something out of a magazine, Pat. The chandy is so pretty....a fairy tale, really.
Wonderful decorating and wonderful photography.
Pat-I was just thinking..I'll know I'm really old when I stop decorating for Christmas! Looks like you're in good shape! It is all beautiful, especially the chandelier. It was worth the extra effort. I hope you'll come back for Deck the Halls on Tuesday!
Absolutely positively gorgeous!
Want to come help me this year?
Hugs!
Kat
Gorgeous! Lots of ideas there --- I think I'll do something similar to our chandelier. Can't wait to see the rest of your house.
Oh Pat,
You are forever my inspiration when it comes to decorating! Someone should pay you to put these pics in a magazine because they are beyond outstanding! I love this room and eveything in it! You really worked hard and it shows! Cindy
Oh, I just love the blues Pat!! And your chandelier is beautiful!
Your dining room is absolutely splendid. I'm lovin' all of the blues and silvers!
Your attention to details definitely shows in here.
Rhonda
Pat, I know what you mean about moving a little slower! LOL! Try it with a toddler in the house! HA! Your dining room is BEAUTIFUL! Love your colors and every touch is to perfection. Now you can enjoy for a whole Christmas season! :)
I love the ambiance blue brings to the room and the added chandelier decorations, it is stunning. I too find that each year is a bit slower - now just where is this going!!!! Darn, well, at least the mind is not slowing down, but you know that's what gets us into trouble, we 'think' we can and whoops. . . .Blessings, Janet
It all looks gorgeous! I'm doing my dining room in aqua and silver, too. Mine is no where near as spectacular as yours, though.
When you're done, bring your left overs and do mine! :)
I'm gonna hit those after Christmas sales like crazy this year - must have more decorations!
Beautiful photography! I love your choice of blue, so pretty and different.
What a beautiful tree!! I woud put a tree in every room if I had the room!
Hi Pat...Gorgeous photos! I love the way you have decorated your chandelier and your tree is magnificent! I lingered over the photo of your wonderful Saint Nicholas holding the little tree. It reminds me of my time in France!Lovely! Have a great week!...hugs...Debbie
Pat, You are amazing! I'm starting today, and every year I say that I'm going to cut back on the decorating.
Hugs,
Cathie
Absolutely stunning Pat! Each photo of your ornaments would make a beautiful Christmas card ~ love the bokeh ♥ And I LOVE your idea of placing a tea light candle inside a wine glass ...We are having a sit down dinner for 12 coming up ~ may I borrow that idea♥
I am in awe, that is just breathtaking. So beautiful. I can't wait to see the other room.
Simply breathtaking. You never disappoint. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Your room is absolutely gorgeous, Pat. I am always amazed at the way you pull all the bits and pieces together and make something so right. Your chandelier - though a problem to you - gave me a couple of ideas for mine. I think you helped me figure out the 'missing' pieces I've wondered about each year with mine. Maybe - I'll have to play with mine to see if my ideas will work. As for the ladder, I was thinking the same for me - I need to stay off. I think! Maybe not! Thanks for sharing your wonderful Christmas home - can't wait to see more!!
~Adrienne~
ELEGANT! SPECTACULAR! GORGEOUS!
Beautiful! I love the blue and silver together. Your chandelier is beautiful. I would not dare get on a ladder anymore. I have problems with fluid in my ear and had to give up the climbing thing long ago. I and not decorating as much this year.
Dear Pat,
I know your dining room isn't all that big ... and how you managed to do all of this in it is nothing short of spectacular! I can't wait for the treat of the rest of your home.....
Oh, Pat! I've never seen a more lovely or elegant dining room at Christmas! Have a wonderful holiday!
I actually gasped when looking at these fabulous photos. So incredibly gorgeous!!!
Wow, Pat! Your tree is breathtaking! I love it. Great eye for ornamentation. This looks like a professionally designed tree. I love it!
So beautiful, love the colors! Love the table setting All your work has paid off, now come do mine. lol I begging for someone to put my trees up here. lol
ps I think they just do not want me to get up and over do. lol
Ravishing! Your dining room looks just brilliant. You make blue look like it is the perfect Christmas color. I love the topping on your tree, and especially the chandelier. All of your touches are so lovely and looks so professional. It must have taken you hours to get it all looking so splendid. You are a very creative lady.
As usual, so beautiful and serene, Miss Pat! Looks stunning!
Suzanne
Like stepping into a Christmas dream!
Pat, I don't know where you get your energy! It's all so spectacular.
I was so thankful that my son wanted to deck our halls the day after Thanksgiving. It was a huge help!
Your dining room looks so pretty, Pat. You have a way with styling that takes my breath away. I love your dining room and the Christmas decorations make it even more special.
Pat, it is already sheer magic at your house. I recall the dining room from last year. I was so in awe at your expertise in the holiday decorating department. And so I always will be. I so look forward to seeing what beauties you come up with. And the photos of them: priceless.
Brenda
GORGEOUSNESS!!
:) rochelle
Oh my gosh...I still have wayward Halloween decorations up! (tail between legs)
Everything looks GREAT! And there's that gorgeous China cabinet I love so much. :-) Complete with St. Nick. Perfection.
Oh my what can I say except STUNNING!!!!! Everything is just gorgeous. Your tree is very unique and just beautiful, and the tablescape is so pretty. Of course you know I LOVE your fabulous cute crystal cloche. Your dining room is stunning. Hugs, Marty
How beautiful! It looks just like out of a magazine.
Beautiful, Pat....just stunning! And lovin' your bokeh (is that how it is spelled?)!!
Absolutely stunning! You should have your own magazine. Your photos are gorgeous!
I never thought I could decorate with blue...just didn't see it. After looking at your paint color and decor I guess blue will be coming to my house in the future. Dianntha
This is absolutely beautiful! I love the colors!
I have said it before and will say it again.....I have never seen any pictures in any magazines prettier than yours, Pat. This is simply and utterly stunning!!!!!!
Barb ♥
Me again! :) Thanks by stopping by. It was at Kroger. I had never used them before and have no intentions of doing so in the future. My daughter went there out of convenience - mistake. I can see being out of certain meds, but it was handled very poorly and the "eye rolling" was to much. Someone told me a while back, they had a bad experience at the same one, and I have racked my brain trying to remember who it was.
Have a great week.
Rain and dreary here all day today.
Glenda
You must be an interior designer because your dining room is just fantastic! I can't show any pictures of my dining room because it is a store room right now. All my Christmas boxes are in there plus we got a new large screen TV and our old cabinet is sitting in the dining room until we can figure out what to do with it and how to get it out of the house (it's solid oak and weights a ton). But I loved what you did with your chandeliers and will try that on mine. Thanks for sharing. Boy, you should take excellent photos!
Teacup Lane (Sandy)
Oh Pat !! Beautiful, as always! I think my favorite thing is the variety of ornaments on the chandelier. I love that idea. Your photos are outstanding.
I finally gave in and ordered the Canon G 11. It should be here in a couple of days. Hopefully it won't take me too long to learn how to use it because I want to post pictures of our house and our Christmas excitement.
We finished our main tree this afternoon. Last evening our "little people" helped decorate it. It needed just a "few' touch-ups today : O )
I am so excited for you to see it.
Charla
Stunning Pat, just stunning!
Oh you are way ahead of me!!
It looks just beautiful! I have the tree in urn from Michael's too. Yours looks better, LOL..
I am going to enjoy watching you transform your house to a Christmas Wonderland!
Hi Pat,
Your dining room looks so festive with all your pretty silver and blue decorations. I love what you did with your chandalier and the ornaments hanging from it are beautiful. TFS! Sheila
I've never been particularly fond of blue, however you are changing my mind! That is gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning! I can't say that you've "slowed down" any at all. :-) Thank you for sharing.
Pat, this is stunning. Absolutely stunning!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Just beautiful Pat ! Hmmmm Missouri Spiced Wine ??? Did you have some before the ladder - maybe that is why the chandy got crooked...LOL ! Sure glad your hubby is handy with those fishing weights !
Kammy
Pat, I love your decorations. Isn't it funny the older we get we make all these plans of things "not" to do and "boom" we're doing them. Love, love, love, the chandelier.. going to have to think on that one. lol. I hope this finds you feeling some better. Guess I caught a small flu bug last week and it just keeps hanging on.. time for it to fly out the window. I do have things to finish..lol.. thanks for swinging in to see the "new" valance.. hugs ~lynne~ p.s. watch that ladder climbing.. :-))
Pat, it is just beautiful. I love all your blue ornaments to go with that room, each and every pic was gorgeous. Love, love it all. You do such a great job. I'm working on all of mine too & hope to be finished in a couple of days. My prelit tree gave me some fits today when one strand of lights wouldn't work. After jiggling it a bit, it decided to work. Accck! That's the part I hate about decorating for Christmas. I'm always glad when it is DONE. I love to see what all you are up to over here.
Pat,
I thought I had left a comment, but I guess it was somewhere else! I love all your photos! You are getting some quality time with your camera!
Love your color scheme too. Very festive!
Don't listen to your friend - I'm over 70 and still decorating (crawling around the floor and up the ladder). If you stopped decorating for Christmas all of us would be deprived of your elegant style. Take care, Sally
Absolutely breath taking - it looks like something from a magazine.
Just beautiful! I love your tree!
Pure Christmas Charm, xoxo~Kathy @ Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Oh my, that is just beautiful!
It's all just gorgeous, Pat! You are such a talented lady. I love all the blue in your dining room~that tree is beautiful!
My mom is 74 and she quit decorating about seven years ago~until this year!! She's putting up a tree and has bought some new decorations!
Your room is beautiful. I am usually a traditional red & green person at Christmas, but I love the blue! Your photography is amazing and I can't wait to see the rest.
Wow what a glorious room--love the colors you have chosen. I also love the tree in the urn--such a nice touch!
Beautiful tree, Pat! I love the serene color....Christine
Just STUNNING!!! I love the peacock feathers.........you did a wonderful job and I'm sure all your dinner guests will love it!!
Wow - I love absolutely everything about this room!

Blue is my favorite color. I could look at it for hours!
I just LOVE the way you decorated the room, so elegant, warm and classy! I can't wait to see what you're up to in the rest of the house.
Beautiful room. You did a great job. My Mother keeps telling me the same thing that as I get older I'll stop put up all this Christmas stuff, as the years progress I just keep putting up more and having a great time doing it. Thanks for sharing.
Sandy
Pat, Your tree and decorations are beautiful, my DD was visiting me last night and I showed her your tree (which she really liked)she is doing a blue and silver tree this year so you were a great inspiration to her (as you are to me and many others).
Have a great holiday!
Jaw-dropping beauty all over the place here Pat! I keep going back over and over the photos. Bliss!
I'm featuring you on my sidebar tomorrow, because this kind of deliciousness needs to be seen!
Feel free to link up to my Make it for Monday party today, if you'd like. We'd love to have you :)
peace.
I've not seen a chandy done like yours before and I think it's spectacular. Stay on the ladder, woman! You belong there.
Pat,
What can I say? I know... STUNNING, GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL, BREATHTAKING,ETC.!!
Your tree is so lovely, the whole room is!
Blessings!
Gwen
I am new to blogging in blogger and if this is what it is all about I am certainly going to enjoy the "journey". Your photos are breathtaking. I'm sure you will have a joyous Christmas with all the preparations and attention to detail that you do with your decorating and your tree. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Pat, came over to answer you question about the bamboo shades. The windows in my great room are double windows. If you look closely, you will see that the shade starts at the top of the bottom window. Hope that makes sense?? But I think you could hang your shades a little lower on your window. I don't see why that wouldn't work. Thanks for dropping by!
This is so beautiful Pat. Both of your homes are so pretty. Your really understand the art of decorating.
Hi Pat,
Thanks for visiting yesterday and leaving your kind comments. Your home is amazing as usual, and I love that shade of blue. Every time and see your photos I covet your camera, and your talent to use it! I ended up spending a couple hours fiddling with mine trying to get better shots. I had problems taking photos with the Christmas lights on. Hopefully Santa will bring me an upgrade, but if not at least a tripod. Take care.
Cathy
It's beautiful Pat! A real winter wonderland! I'm so glad you have that mulled wine to warm us up! Just a small glass for me, please!
And I spy those fern prints in your foyer, I have them also in mine!
You know some years I just don't have it in me. Not the decorating, but the putting away part. Those years I take it easier on myself. But you know I am waiting on Steve to get the tree out of the attic this year. Just not enough umpf in me today!
Dear Pat,
Thanks for sharing your talent.
Ok so on to the age comment. It is a state of mind right? As i recall you filled out a test and it came back to tell you that you are 39:)
So decorate on ...if a bit slower.Because from the comments that are shown here your are a gift to us!
As usual, this is breathtaking!! The colors are so perfect...and every little detail is just right. You are amazing!
Oh...and the spiced Christmas wine reminds me of being in Germany walking around at the Christmas markets where they serve hot, spiced "Gluhwein." It has spices in it and smells so good even in a pot on the stove.
Pat, I saw that blue room and actually gasped out loud! How gorgeous. And today is Monday. It sure could work for Blue Monday.
blue is my favorite color, so of course I LOVE it!
gail
Beautiful! So pretty and so tasteful!
Gorgeous!!! Can I host all my holiday parties at your house?
All I can say is WOW!!! Pat this is simply gorgeous and so delightful to the eyes!! Another magazine cover for sure! Thank you for sharing the loveliness in your life with us!!
HUGS,
Becky
The dining room looks so lovely Pat, great job.
Know what you mean about less decorating as the years pass.....but gosh you've got quite lot more to catch up with me! This year I'm really scaling back, more into adding touches to the everyday things rather than packing it all away and then dragging it all out again!! Yep, it's called "simplify" that word I'm still trying to live by!!!!
Happy decorating!
Gorgeous! Makes me want a blue tree. I wish I could put my trees up and decorate a table as quickly as you did in the pictures! LOL!
oh my! How beautiful!!! Makes me sigh...a good sigh.

Lovely Christmas in the dining room.
I have some beautiful music on in the background - and I felt like it just took me on a lovely tour of your work. It is always so inviting.
beautiful as always, Pat! xo
I love it! I'm all about color themes for trees (and rooms) so this is right up my alley. It really a stunning tree and the entire room is perfect. I loved my visit.
Sue
Pat.. once more I can't seem to locate your Email address
You asked me about the Oklahoma blogger
She closed her old blog and has started a web site http://www.vickimaddenphotography.com/archives.html
but, when I checked her new site -- I realized that the pictures from Branson were on Facebook - not her new site. Well _ I don't see them there and she is just getting her web site up and kicking
Catching up on some blog reading.
Oh my Pat, that is stunning! I love that tree in an urn and with the blue, wow! And of course your photos always make everything better, so good at the photog thing!
Linda

Hi Pat, Oh what a lovely, serene dining room. It looks so calm and relaxing. I was trying to figure out your colors but they seem to change with each photo.
Your dishes seem to be turquoise in one picture. In any case, it is beautiful. Of course your tree is the finishing touch -- love it all.
This is beautiful! Such an expected color palette..I love it. Well, really I can't stop looking at that grid of botanicals...must have something like that in my house!!!!
sooo beautiful! as always you do such a beautiful job! and I LOVE that dining room color-im sure you have it posted somewhere on your blog-but would you mind sharing what the name of the paint color is? we are redoing ours in Jan. and that IS the color I was looking for!
