Cheers from Mt Pleasant Winery (Missouri)!
Autumn 2007
As you can see, by the appearance of the Back Porch, renovation is underway.
I’ve changed the template to Minima Stretch, to facilitate larger photos. I’ve also reduced the columns. Although this makes for a plainer page, I believe, in the long run, this will make it easier to read and see photos, here at Back Porch Musings.
The banner is a work in progress, subject to change at a moments notice!
While I’m experimenting with the layout, I thought you might like to have a look at a few photos, from 2007 and 2008.
Most of the photos, in this post, were taken before I purchased the Canon Rebel XTi. I used a small Kodak Easy Share Camera, at the time. During Autumn, 2007, I purchased the Canon and have “practiced”, ever since and continue to “practice”!
The following photos were taken at Nell Hill’s Briarcliff Village, Kansas City, Missouri, November 2007, when Mary Carol Garrity opened the store.
We are still at the lake. Our plan is to return home, tomorrow (Tuesday). Before we leave, I’ll do one more lakeside tablescape.
A little hint:
Have a wonderful week!
Because this post is about the metamorphosis of Back Porch Musings, I’ve added it to Susan’s Met Monday. Stop by for a variety of blogland makeovers.

Hi there,
I have had 2 Kodak easy share cameras, and they both died.
So now I have a new Nikon Coolpix, and I love it.
I loved looking at all of your great photos!
Love the new look so far.
Have a great week,
Rosemary
Pat, I'm Loving the progress! You always have had a beautiful blog! Nancy
Hi Pat, I was unaware Minima Stretch would enable larger photos, thanks for the tip!
LOVE your photos, everything is so warm and cozy...and that photo of you with your glass of wine is lovely!
Enjoy!
Hugs,
Robin
Pat, what a wonderful place and your sure look like you're having fun! Enjoy every minute at the lake!
I think your blog is definitely sweeter this way. ;-)
I guess I'm next to do that!
I adore the larger photographs. I need to do a bit of "redecorating" on my blog too! Thank you for always inspiring us!
Hi Pat,
Gorgeous photos and blog layout! You have always been one of my favorites since the beginning. Thank you for inspiring us all to keep on improving our decorating. ~Warmly, Melissa :)
Well, Lady, you sure are practicing Goog!!
Beautiful photos. Great camera. I have a Kodak Easy Share and I love it. Only had it though about 4-5 months.
Great photos and a really fun site. I have marked myself as a follower.
Practice makes perfect and you are one talented photographer! I love to look at your pictures.
I love the look of the new header. As soon as your page came up, I thought, "Ooooh, how nice!" I also agree that a more roomy and spacious page is easy to navigate through and enjoy. Great job.
Love the pictures,
Blessings,
Traci
Even your Kodak photos are wonderful so I think it's you not the camera! I've been thinking of chaning to the Minima Stretch and I like how your blog looks. I love the large photos and it's easier to read.
Manuela
Oh, boy! I see something fishy that looks like a fun tablescape!
And I love your blog, Pat, whether your pictures are big or small... they are all great.
XO,
Sheila :-)
I really like the new look. I am a big fan of white space.
I always love your photos. You have a great eye for composition.
Pat, you shooting those beautiful pictures with a Kodak Easyshare only shows that it's not the camera that takes great pictures it's the person behind it. I'm always amazed at the loveliness you capture.
Enjoy your week!
You should really turn your blog into a book, you never disappoint! Love the new look here too!
The new look is just fabulous and you always have such wonderful eye candy and inspiration to see. Just gorgeous. Hugs, Marty
I love your new look. Very fresh. Your photos pop.
Hugs!

You know I've been thinking about getting a new camera - I'm gonna have to take that easy share for a test spin! Your photos are always stunning! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such nice compliments to the feature in the Buffalo News. As glad as I am that it happened, and I'm even more glad that it's all over! That was stressful! :) Oooo - and I like the new template ...
Hi Pat, your blog looks great. This is so funny.....I did the same thing today!
You are a cutie in that top pic.
Barb
i play with my layout all the time! the stretch layout is sure becoming popular!
Like your new look. I went to Minima Stretch a while back and really like the look. All I use is a Kodak Easy Share, but some day maybe I will get something else. I haven't figured out all the settings on this one yet! :-)
Glenda
I always enjoy photos of your lovely home, Pat. And I did the same thing over the weekend! Did the Minima Stretch thing for bigger photos!
Brenda
I tried the minima stretch but I didn't like it! I like yours though, I wonder if it is the solid color background that makes a difference?
When I saw the title, I thought, oh my, she's renovating her whole beautiful home now!! I do like the look of your blog - I've thought about experimenting with the larger pictures, but still too chicken to try. Enjoyed your pics of Nell Hill's - one of the things I enjoyed the most while there was to see the different colors on the walls. I loved that tealy-blue. Sally
Lovely pictures, and the new blog format is very nice -- very readable!
Cass
Hello! Love the new banner. It is stunning!
I'd like to know if I may copy the photo of the table setting with the bees? I have a friend I have got to show that to. It is outstanding!!!
Let me know when you are back in town and all situated. Thank you!
Karen
I have a feeling you are always a "work in progress" :) That's what makes life so much fun! Love the new banner!
I like your blog no matter big or small:)
Joyce
Hi Pat, I've been enjoying your blog for the last 18mos. or so, and I love your transformation. Evidently there are a lot of us out there in blogland with that little Easy Share camera.(I have a post on my trials with it) We live in Springfield and have kids in University City, so we're almost neighbors. Come by my new little blog for a visit, when you can. Thanks for being such a great inspiration.
Debra
I really like the black and white photos in your header. The photos are individually beautiful and give your blog a fresh, new look!
I widened my blog too. I like it much better. It is all about the pretty pics! I also like the white. I think the images look better against the white. I am debating whether I want to change my background.
~Liz
Lookin good Pat!
Happy MM!
Evening, Dear Pat! Oh, I'm loving your new look! Your header is beautiful! I've enjoyed looking at all your pretty photos ~ always do! I like the stretch too! You're just the classiest one, Dear Pat, in my book! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Pat, I'm loving the new blog look. any and all help is greatly appreciated. How did you do the top part.. Don't you just love Mary Carol's stores? Next time you head this way you "must" let me know I'll meet you there. I'm only about 45 minutes from that store.. Yes, girl you were that close. again...love the new blog look.
hugs ~lynne~
What a treat to be able to see your beautiful pictures enlarged. I've been using the minima stretch format for a long time, and I love it, but I'm really going to love it on your blog, because your photos are always so wonderful. laurie
Morning Pat...I am loving all this eyecandy!!!! lol I have a Kodak easy care and it is starting to give me fits...have to take 50 pics just to get one good one...your pics are so beautiful girl...gonna do a tablescapre on fishes huh? lol I bet is will be glorious.
Girl me and daddy always used hotdogs for catfish bait but the Burlys think you use WORMS..... oh my word and in the little town where the lake is there is one bait shop..in the local country grocery...right smack dab next to the produce!!!!! I kid you not! We bought our worms 'fresh' in amongst the lettuce and cucumbers! lol lol The cashier even dumped them out at the cash register to show us there was plenty of worms in the carton!!!! CAN YOU SAY 'SMELLING SALTS!!!!!'lol lol Cause I almost fainted! lol But ohhhh what a laughing great time we had..those grandkids had a ball and I got so emotional I started crying and Baby Burly was baiting my hook for me and ask 'what's wrong mom?' I told him I was just so happy..it was just the best day for me! Thanks for coming by girl and i hope you are having a fantastic week ~♥~
Pat, the new blog style is looking good. I like the neat and clean look and the colors. I've been itching to make a change myself lately, but it will have to wait. The colorful fish has perked my interest. Can't wait to see what you are up to.
Good morning Pat, your new look is great. Your posts are always the best but I agree your changes are easy to read. When I see color on some blogs I always have a harder time reading them. I like he color but black and white is my favorite. the larger font is also easier.
I love your photos from the past Pat. Your new camera is definitely an improvement though. I love my camera which is like mine except newer. I have learned more about my little camera and even use the macro now.
Today is another day with our grands. They are going to sliding rock today. A break for grandma. I used to go with them but my knees are not quite ready for that activity...Yet. LOL.
My gang are up and wanting breakfast. Eight grands, my two daughters and Bill and I. Busy is an understatement. big smile.
Hugs...Jeanne
Hi Pat,
Last week I seriously contemplated the minima stretch for the very same reasons you described. Maybe once I upgrade my camera I will switch over. Every time I visit here I covet your Canon Rebel xti more and more. I adore Nell Hill and her whimsical bee pieces. Hopefully someday I will be in the area and stop in one of her stores.
Cathy
oh Pat, you always inspire.
Think I might try this for a while.
I feel very at home at both of your dwellings, I can see you do too.
bless you dear kindred spirit
Pat - You're coming home just in time for the heat! It took us forever to come home after the
4th It was one fender-bender after the other as well as the volume of traffic. Be safe! The older photos are wonderful too. There is so much I need to learn about all of this.
I remember these pictures. Twin and I both loved the flowers on the armoire. What a great idea.
I wish we had a Nell Hills near us. I love the bee tablescape.
Hi Pat,
Fantastic photos! You're SO talented!!!
Thank you for the nice comment on my blog and for sharing the story of how your daughter (and now your grandchildren as well!) sing
"Delta Dawn" in the car. It's a very 'singable' song, isn't it?
Take good care!
Bill
I love that bee on the napkins. You have very pretty things.
Pat it looks great and you're so right it is so much easier on the eye...
Your photos are always GREAT !!!
Kathy :)
Pat I love your BIGGER new look...I know I had to lose my blog dress I won from Jan and Tom Rose Haven...but I really like the bigger pics so much better..Now I have an Easy share camera from Kodak and that sucker just eats batteries...Now I got a Fuji finepix I carry in my purse but don't really like it...I think it's time I got one good camera as much as I take pics ha ha!! Can't wait to see your table you are doing...hope you have been having a great time at the lake...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
Thank you for sharing all your gorgeous photos of beautiful places and things.
Love all these wonderful photos. I love the teapot especially!
Love your banner! Looks great!
I like the minima stretch template and the way it allows for larger photos. Also I saw that you have your camera make listed on your sidebar. Thanks!
Hey Pat. I have followed your lead. Or copied depending upon your perspective--isn't that a sincere form of flattery? I've changed to Stretch. My problem is that my header photos are not fitting anymore. Same photos in the last day or two don't make it across the page. hmmmmm Must check my camera settings. I have been traveling all Summer and will blog about it soon.
Haven't driven through the Lake lately since youngest is in school in KC I usually go home from son's place in Columbia that way. Hope to meet up with you someday. Blessings, Shay
